KEYWORDS: temporal adverbial phrases, machine translation, Portuguese, Chinese, contrastive analysis This study presents a contrastive analysis of the machine translation of Adverbial Phrases from Chinese into Portuguese, and proposes some grammar rules to improve the performance of Portuguese – Chinese Translation System (PCT), a machine translation system developed by University of Macau. The corpus of our project consists of 46 Chinese-language source texts (TF) with around 200 words each and their respective translations into Portuguese by PCT (PCT TA) and human beings (TH). The STs were extracted from The International Chinese Newsweekly. We compared the syntactic structures of Chinese TF, PCT translated texts, and human translated texts. The analysis shows that most PCTs have structure inconsistency. To solve this, we discuss and propose some syntactic rules.

關鍵字：時間副詞短語，機器翻譯，葡萄牙文，中文，對比分析。 本文中所分析的語料庫由 46 篇摘自《亞洲週刊》的中文原文和相對應的葡文譯 文組成，其中葡文譯文包括 46 篇人工譯文以及 46 篇機器翻譯結果。文章著眼於句中的時間副詞短語，結合澳門大學所研發的中葡互譯軟體 PCT 所完成的中葡翻譯結果，對中文、人工譯文和機器譯文中的時間副詞短語進行對比分析，通過舉例說明，指出 PCT 在進行從中文到葡文的翻譯時于時間副詞短語方面所存在的問題，並提出相關句法規則，使該軟體能得出更好的翻譯結果。
