Review
As an introduction to the life and work of frank gilbreth, a good start is the book, cheaper by the dozen, by a son and a daughter. The film of the same name is enjoyable bbut pure hollywood fakery. The actor , webb,s portrayal is ridiculous. The real frank gilnreth first worked as a brick layer ..In his career, he actrd with humanity and compassion with people of all levels of society and thus was able to ontain their full cooperation.. The actor, webb would have been treated with hostility , but perhaps webb is portrayal represents the character of many of the later practitionrs of time and motion study .. In thes respect, chaplin ,s modern times ^1936^film is an exposition of the misuse of gilbreth,s work..I believe that gilbreth and his his wife were fine and decent people The prelinger films are not ebtertainment but are a valuable historical resource..Consideration of the gilbreth heritage will produce spirited debate. Perhaps he should have stuck to the study of workers in outdoor activity, such as brick laying and not ventured into factories and offices ?
