- Abstract
- Produced to garner support for the 1956 Federal Aid-Highway Act, the law that enabled the Interstate Highway system. After a small town learns that it is to be bypassed by a new freeway, highway officials and politicians help to convince residents that the freeway is actually in their interest. The film ends as it began, at the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new stretch of highway.

Another one of these 30 minute films about an issue that features differing points of view which go into a meeting, view a film, debate and finally agree to something. Wait a minute, this sounds a LOT like "Atomic Energy as a Force for Good!" made the previous year. Anyways, we begin with the opening of a highway, and the dedication of it. The mayor, the planners get on stage and start talking, then the mayor invites a real cutie of a woman on stage. We dpn't know the identity of this woman until 3/4 of the way through, until that time we're speculating the mayor is rather openly picking up hoochies.. Anyways, as the speeches draw on, the Mayor flashes back to the hearing, and the many sides people took on the issue. Less Traffic! It'll go through the farm! Less traffic through the town! It appears the nay side has won over the audience, until the 'woman' we saw in the first part of the movie turns out to be a school teacher who of course gives the "think of the children" speech, which wins over the audience and so we go back to the present. So, this film concludes, we must think of the kids, people! THINK OF THE CHILDREN!
