Theme
Edgar Kennedy comedy short!
Review
This is a driver safety film from Chevy that is essentially a comedy short starring the great comedian Edgar Kennedy, who plays himself as well as all of the different reckless drivers he meets on the road. Edgar Kennedy was the master of the "slow burn," starting out at Mack Sennett's Keystone studio in 1913 (where he worked with Charlie Chaplin and Fatty Arbuckle), later supported Laurel and Hardy, Our Gang/Little Rascals, the Marx Brothers in DUCK SOUP (the lemonade vendor who feuds with Harpo and Chico), appeared as comic relief in many features and starred in many of his own comedy shorts for RKO during the 30's and 40's. Now I'd just love to see the Jam Handy short silent comedian Harry Langdon made in 1940 called SITTING PRETTY! Hopefully that will turn up some day. (Brent Walker)
