Title

On the study of mixed signal interface circuit for inertial navigation system

English Abstract

As with the improvement of the micromechanical accelerometer technique, the inertial navigation system is widely applied around the world. To satisfy the requirements of the inertial navigation system, the front-end interface circuit, analog-to-digital converter are critical to being implemented. In the micromechanical accelerometer application, because of the mechanical signal bandwidth is very minuscule, sigma-delta ADC can effectually reduce noise to achieve high-resolution by employing a high oversampling ratio (OSR) and noise shaping technique[1]. Even though a high-resolution ADC chip can be applied to inertial navigation application system, the resolution of the whole system is controlled by the front-end filter. This thesis presents a fully differential high-resolution analog interface circuit to dedicate to inertial navigation systems. By integrating an anti-aliasing filter and a second order DT sigma-delta (ΣΔ) modulator into a single chip, and the interface circuit can achieve highresolution with low power consumption. The prototype fabricated in a 0.25 µm ST CMOS process achieves a dynamic range (DR) of 94dB, an SNDR of 83.4dB over the bandwidth of 105Hz, where the total power consumption is 363.2µW at 1.6V supply. Based on the simulation results, the block of DT ΣΔ modulator can reach an SNDR of 101dB while consuming a power consumption of 43µW, which yields a Walden Figure of Merit (FoM) of 1.7pJ/conv-step and a Schreier FoM of 157dB.
