The thesisoffers a brief introduction of the development of Chinese children's literature, the history of translation of Chinese children's literature, and the translation of works in Portuguese in China. Based on Skopos Theory, through analysis and comparison of the two translated existed versions of O Alquimista, got the adapted version for children. Through analysis,as the readers have changed, the purposes of translation become different, then the translation strategies also have to change to match the reading environment of China and the ability of reading of children readers. Therefore, Skopos Theory is suitable for translation adapted for children. With the results of the questionnaires offered to children between 7 and 12 and their parents, we find that there is still space for translated works in Chinese market, especially the works adapted for children. The thesis aims to contribute to the entry of more works of children's literature in Portuguese, even the Portuguese literature.
