Title

Examining regulation of food advertising in Greater China Area

English Abstract

This paper explores the existing regulations concerning food advertising in mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan to better understand their policy development towards controlling and managing obesity, especially childhood obesity issues. By investigating each article of the collected self-regulations and regulations, the researcher has designed tables based on previous studies and generated relevant results. To conclude, while the two regulations from Hong Kong having the most detailed provisions, the Greater China Area fails to pay proper attention to the impact of food advertising on obesity. The following aspects should be addressed in self-regulation and regulation within the Greater China Area: more media exposure of news about obesity, introduction of experiences from abroad, and getting support from key players in these three markets.
