Macao is a city well known for its gaming industry and economic taking off in recent years, but the development of gambling industry also causes some social problems such as problem gambling and its related crimes. Problem gambling has become a public health issue in Macao and other countries. This thesis is a literature review of relevant research on problem gambling and gambling related crimes. It also reviews the definition of gambling and problem gambling; the theories on problem gambling, and the relationship between gambling behavior and crime. A summary of policy implications for Macao will be provided in the end. The suggestions for future studies in the relevant field are provided as well
