The purpose of this study is to examine the efficacy of Faith-Based Drug Abuse Treatment and Rehabilitation in Macao. It investigates and interprets the influence of Protestant Christian’s faith in relation to stopping addictive drug abuse behavior. As there are many ways to help in drug rehabilitation, why would one select Faith-Based Treatment for the overwhelming number of drug addicts in Macao? Through private interviews and personal testimonies of several Protestant Christian ex-drug users, some common phenomenon are discovered. The present research was acquired through the means of interviewing two ex-drug users, who have been successful in stopping their drug addiction through the help of Faith-Based Treatment. In addition, Two Faith-Based Treatment workers were also interviewed on order to obtain data from different perspectives. The study goes through the common factors of drug abuse and utilizes the elements of Faith-Based Treatment to combat against them. The objectives are to analyze the drug abuse phenomenon through the data obtained, identify social problems and discover how the Protestant Christian’s faith influences the efficacy of drug addiction treatment. The findings of the 3 research may help in policymaking for drug related crimes, determining direction for drug treatment programs and lead to a higher rehabilitation rate. In general, this is a study of life changing evidence which consists of personal stories in overcoming drug addiction through the help of Protestant’s gospel outreach work in Macao.
