The effects of business ethics course on students' ethical attitudes

Abstract Business ethics is a critical issue in the world. Especially in China, which is one of the largest countries in the world and has a big but unregulated market, the government and companies pay more attention on the ethical problems. As the increasing of the importance of business ethics, business ethics course in universities which has a short story in China is being focused on by the society. The effect of business ethics course is very important, because it will influence the behaviors of the future business men. This study examines the effect of Business Ethics courses in China. Five business-major classes from five different universities in China were chosen to measure if there are any significant changes in the students’ attitudes of business ethics. Four of the universities are in mainland China and the other one is in Macau. All the results indicate that there is no significant effect of the business ethics course in China, and there is no significant difference of the effects between universities in mainland China and in Macau. But there are some significant differences in the changing of attitudes among students with different gender, languages, hometowns or groups they belong to in the University of Macau.
