Title

Information technology in education computer-based training courseware design & development

English Abstract

Computer-based training (CBT) started its root in the late 1970's from simple text-based system to the current multimedia and hypermedia-based system. It is very challenging in developing multimedia applications, as new technologies and design considerations come into play. As the Internet is fast emerging as one of a teacher's most important tools, with the World Wide Web emerging as the easiest and most popular way to access the Internet, this work is an effort to (1) document the design and techniques used in the development of a multimedia application - the Multimedia Mandarin Learning Courseware (MMLC) project, (2)analyze the characteristics of current web-based instructional tools, (3) outline the design issues and considerations in migrating the MMLC courseware developed to run on the World Wide Web.
